I will start this blog with a small story.......
"Few months back, two businessmen (Starting same Business) imported Plant and machinery for starting their business entErprise. For getting a hold on to machinery, they needed to go through the whole import process paying duties etc... Now the custom authority started asking for "BRIBE aka Paisa" for clearing the machine of the Port in an easy and quick way. If the BRIBE was not given, the owner had to wait for months until he got the clearance (Given this clearnace would also have included different hurdles).
Now, one entrepreneur decided that he would follow business ethics and hence would not give any bribe and therefore would wait few months before he gets the clearance. While the other entrepreneur gave the Bribe and got the possesion of machinery. He started his business early and automatically got advantage over the entrepreneur who resorted towards the way of ethics."
Likewise this situation, many times in life we stand in midway of Growth and Ethics.
So, i would like to raise the question that "Can Growth and Ethics go hand in Hand?"

In dis case, I wud choose growth over ethics coz as v all know corruption is an integral part of PSU's n dere is nothing I can do abt it. This might be morally wrong but i wud like 2 grow my org rather than sitting idle and loosing out 2 my competitor. But i will compensate my society 4 dis by providing employment and taking up some social causes, as my org grows.
I WAS THINKING THE SAME AJAY!! Another thing is to see this aspect in terms of long term benefits that we would be able to reap for society by creating more resources in addition to what you mentioned!! Once you become BIG, you can follow the part of ethics, because than you yourself have resources to sustain your business on that path!!
EXACTLY... And as we grow, our country grows with us. And if our company becomes a big and powerful org, den v can try and eradicate corruption and take up some social causes, something like INFY's former CEO, Mr. NANDAN NILEKANI IS DOING(NATIONAL ID CARD PROJECT).
I think there is no need to give bribe...that bribe money could be used to buy a hidden camera, making calls to some media channels(media just needs a call to cover anything, u know how much competition in the market..that applies for news channels as well)...and with a good planning,problem can be eradicated from the grass root level...just we need to be strong for taking hardcore decisions.. ...this is my personal point of view...i would have done the same thing....Girish

well, i wud agree wid Ajay in choosing d growth path over ethics in dis race for survival.
ya i agree dat by dis way i'll be going against d morals n promoting d immorality, but practicaly luking, i don't have ny other feaible option or else someone else wud give bribe n wipe me out of d competition,since corruption is widespread in our country n my alone effort might nt do ny gud 2 cease dis corruption out of nation , rather it will only backfire on me n stop d growth of my business.
one final thing regarding Girish's suggestion of using hidden cameras to expose all this activity,well i wud say dat all these concepts or techniques or whatever... has been employed even in past 2 no such great effect.
Need of an hour is 2 make our SYSTEMS EFFECTIVE SUCH THAT D NEED 2 GIVE BRIBES IN ORDER 2 GET OUR WORK DONE ON TIME NEVER ARISES, AND AN EFECTIVE SYSTEM WILL AUTOMATICALLY LEAD TO QUICK COMPLETION N DISPOSAL OF TASKS IN HAND
