"Just for Ladies" Really?

Hi to all my bloggers!!

I will start with a small incidence that i was unluckily lucky enough to go through. I was travelling by metro to Ramakrishna Ashram Marg with my uncle. My uncle was sitting while I was standing tall enjoying the view of people commuting by metro. As usual, at kashmiri gate it got pretty crowded up. A lady in her mid 20's (I guess) listening FM, entered the metro. She came and somewhat stood in middle of nowhere. My uncle asked him that "mam aapke piche Ladies seat (Where i guess 2 men were seating) hai aap wahan baith jaiye". The lady said that "Nahin thik Hai".

Like wise many times in a bus I (I can comfortabely say We) have seen that some idiots are sitting on Ladies Seat, while the young girls and ladies are standing. So my question to all girls (boys if they too have the answer) " Why don't girls use this particular right when it's provided to them?"

I have learned few answers throughout my college life like; "Thik hai, koi problem nahin hai, khade hain yaar", “I am comfortable". Unluckily, we have the pleasure of hearing these lines from young educated girls and ladies. Aunties still ask for the seats. For all the younger lot who generally say the above lines, please answer this “If you are a millionaire; and get lucky to win a lottery, say for 1 million!! Would you deny it saying I am already a millionaire??"

What I wanna say is that u might me comfortable with standing and not using your right; but than you need to make an impact for all those who are not comfortable and neither have the audacity to say "Bhaiya Ladies seat hai". I know there are idiots who are sitting on ladies seat, but if you let them sit, aren't you a biggere one?? Just Express!!

In my opinion, ladies don't use their right coz dey r hesitant 4m d rigid mentality of Delhi's males. Acc 2 what I hv observed, even when a female asks 4 a seat, she doesn't get it very often n further she has 2 hear some ridiculous comments while d crowd watches everything but does nothing 2 stop it. So females don't ask 4 a seat coz of fear of harassment n lack of enforceability of their right.

Hi Ajay! Thanks for giving your view and keeping this post alive.

I somewhat agree with what you are saying. But if the educated younger lot stops fighting for their right than it again wouldn't make any sense.

In addition to this, i don't think this problem (Rigid Mentality) happens when someone is commuting through Delhi Metro because at that point of time, idiots (Men sitting on ladies seat) are facing a healthy crowd; rather this opportunity should be used by women to the maximum and they should ask men sitting to stand and leave the seat!! By this, people who are directly involved and those who are spectators would get a lesson. This would also help senior citizens who generally don't get a seat.

Yes i do agree dat metro is d place where ladies can ask for their right comfortably but what abt DTC buses. But v have 2 start 4m somewhere so it has 2 b DELHI METRO n i hope dat dere is a kind of ripple effect n d situation improves in DTC buses as well.

i really appericiate that some1 thought for that,
there r two reasons which leads to such a situation.
one is that which ajay said that somewhat we fear of ridiculous comments, after all we cant teach right and wrong to every1 rather i would say every1 will not listen to us.
scondly youth girl doesn't sits so that some1 needy n our elders could get seats.the seats reserved for old age r not enough.
when we r small our parents provide each and every comfort to us,now its our tern.
if some1 of my father age(physically absolutly fit)is standing n i m sitting, till the time i dnt stand n offer my seat to him i feel uneasy sitting even if it is reserved for ladies. at that time it doesn't matters even if i m going against rules.
i know my standing doesn't always result that my seat is offered to the one in need,
so in such situation i cant correct every1 what i do is when i get chance to sit,i sit n when saw some1 around my parents age or above,i offer my seat to them, evn if they r comfortable by standing.
this way it goes to a right person.

Hi Shiva!
Thanks for your comments!! I agree that seat should be left for elders. But i feel that's an exception what you are talking off! According to you what should be the solution for the 1st situation you mentioned?:

Sorry bt i dnt feel that its an exception, whenever i get chance to seat its hardly more than 5 mins, there is always sm1 whom i feel i should offer my seat.
i don't know d solution for first situation bcoz i dint find it safe to argue with those who r ill-mannered but ya to those whom i feel i can say,i will surely use my right from now atleast.
Do u have suggestion for 1st one.....
wse there is one situation more situation when youth girls r with frnds, they dnt seat till all of them get the seats, 1 is seating n 1 is standing to wo bhi cmfortable ni hota.

By exception i meant that in my original post i was talking about the 1st case!! I respect you and all those who leave a seat for elders (That's why called it an exception), but my point of focus is on the first case we had been talking about initially. Before thinking of a solution i am waiting for few more people who can give their views and comments.

Hy..i don't want to say much abt this ....the only thing..if seats are reserved for ladies...they should use their right...i know some time time it creates problem for the lady...specially in bus...bt ultimately they need to take start fr asking the reserved seats..if sm1 else sitting there. But finally the decision comes to that person who is sitting on that seat...so let it be as that idiot..duffer...etc wants....
from my point of view
one solution can be like....d lady can ask him first to leave seat...otherwise she can ask conductor...even after the person ds no leave seat...there can be complaint against bus driver..or conductor..because ultimatly its their responsibility to take care of their bus and its passengers...d only risk here is of time...whch we metro people dont hav actually...
there is solution fr every thing...if u really want to get rid from the problem....

vaibhav you have choosen such an interesting topic or rather you have observed an interesting phenomena!
i feel girls / ladies( lest they are offened) should use their right for the seats! coz if they wont then they are contributing to the rowdy( cheap) behaviour of, especially the males of our society. how do they tackle it is a secondary issue . the question is why dnt they ask for it? and the answers are debatable ranging from physcologial reasons to fashion statement( as we have seen in the comments above)
i feel they should take the seats reserved for them, and even if they dnt wish to sit! as they may offer their seats to sum old / needy passengers ( male or female).
one small step can change the society, and we the YOUTH have to be the one to initiate it!
